Following the Chairman’s open letter to the village there was enough interest shown at the AGM that the Society is able to continue. The Committee hopes to carry this momentum forward to a Christmas production, and is looking for suitable material. After Alan Bywaters and Sarah Balcomb had given their Chairman’s and Treasurer’s reports (chairman2010.pdf and treasurer2010.pdf), the Society regretfully accepted the resignation of both officers, along with that of John Sladen. All will be sorely missed: John for his practicality, level-headedness and can-do attitude; Sarah for her financial and, in her capacity as Secretary, organisational skills (arranging an HDS Committee meeting is akin to herding cats!); Alan for his energy, vision and commitment during his many years as Chairman when, on more than one occasion, his enthusiasm was all that kept the Society running.

The Committee now stands as Nigel Smith (Chairman), James Nicholson (Secretary) and Dave Boreham (Treasurer), along with Liz Buckridge, Frances Sladen, Ben Boreham and Alex Nibbs. If you have a play you would like to see, act in or even direct, a suggestion for some other event with a dramatic bent, or would like to help the Society in some other way, please talk to one of the Committee or phone the email the Chairman.
